RAPIDS CAPTAIN MOEEN HAMMERS NINE SIXES IN DEVASTATING DISPLAY OF HITTING

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain, Moeen Ali, hit NINE sixes in a superb knock for Comilla Victorians in the Bangladesh Premier League in Mirpur today.

Moeen smashed 75 off only 35 deliveries against Khulna Tigers in another memorable innings.

He then picked up 2-20 from his four overs of off spin to help his side to a 65 run win.

It followed on from Moeen’s exploits for England in the T20I Series against the West Indies last month and further whetted the appetites of Rapids supporters ahead of this summer’s Blast.

He came to the wicket at 71-3 in the 10th over after the Victorians had been put into bat.

Moeen played himself in, scoring four from his first eight balls, but then cut loose in devastating fashion.

Three sixes in one over from off spinner Mahedi Hasan set the pattern for the remainder of his innings.

He dominated a fourth wicket stand of 83 in 7.4 overs with Faf du Plessis (38).

Moeen was finally dismissed to the last ball of the penultimate over, attempting a 10th six when caught at long off from the bowling of Thisara Perera.

He had a strike rate of 214.28 and left to a great ovation in another knock to add to the many brilliant ones in his career as Victorians totalled 188-6.

Moeen then struck with the ball in his first over as Yasir Ali (18) came down the wicket but did not get to the pitch of the ball and was caught at long on.

He conceded only three runs in his first over and then Soumya Sarkar was fortunate to edge the spinner for four in the next.

But Moeen dismissed him in his third over as Sarkar (22) was caught at over.

Moeen bowled his four overs in one spell and the Tigers were dismissed for 123 in 19.3 overs.
