RAPIDS CAPTAIN MOEEN SHINES AS ENGLAND DRAW LEVEL IN T20I SERIES

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain, Moeen Ali, produced a superb all-round performance as England levelled the T20I Series against the West Indies with a one run win in Bridgetown.

Moeen hit 31 of England’s 171-8 and then picked up three wickets for just 24 runs as the home side closed on 170-8 after some late hitting almost turned the game on its head.

It was another demonstration of the superb form that Rapids fans will be looking forward to when Moeen leads the Blast campaign this summer.

Moeen came to the wicket at 40-2 and added 61 in 6.2 overs with Jason Roy – the biggest stand of the innings.

He hit one six and three fours in his 24 ball knock before diverting a widish delivery from Kieron Pollard to short third man.

Roy top-scored with 45 and then 27 off 15 balls from Chris Jordan boosted England’s final total.

Moeen then got to work with the ball with deadly effect after coming into the attack in the eighth over.

His third delivery had Nicholas Pooran (24) caught at deep mid wicket and then Moeen made two breakthroughs in his third over.

A sharp return catch accounted for Jason Holder (1) and Odean Smith (7) perished at long off to leave the West Indies on 65-7.

Romario Shepherd and Akeal Hosein both hit an unbeaten 44, including 28 in the final over from Saqib Mahmood, but England held on to make it 1-1 in the best of five series.
