PENNINGTON TAKES THREE WICKETS WITH NEW BALL BUT FRUSTRATED BY THE WEATHER

Worcestershire CCC paceman, Dillon Pennington, delivered a deadly three wicket opening blast for Adelaide CC but was left frustrated by the weather in the SACA Premier Cricket first grade match with Northern Districts.

Pennington took the new ball after Northern Districts were put into bat and struck three times in the space of seven balls at the Salisbury Oval.

He made the first breakthrough in his third over by bowling Kabir Luthra and Corey McDean with successive deliveries.

Antum Naqvi survived the hat-trick ball at the start of the next over but soon edged Pennington to second slip.

Northern Districts were then 11-3, with all three wickets falling on that total, and Pennington had figures of 3-4 from four overs.

But only one more over was possible without addition to the score before the heavens opened and led to the game being abandoned.

Pennington is playing for Adelaide until March 10 before returning to New Road to continue his preparations for the new season.

Worcestershire batsman, Jack Haynes, has had a weekend off from playing  as his club, Green Point CC, have had a bye.

The former England Under-19 player has instead been continuing his training programme in readiness for when he is back at New Road.
