Worcestershire CCC’s prolific batsman, Jake Libby, will be Worcestershire Cricket Society’s guest speaker at their next winter cricket evening on Tuesday, January 11.
Before participating in a Q and A session, he will be interviewed by BBC Hereford-Worcester’ cricket broadcasters, Dave Bradley and Frank Watson.
Seldom has a player made as instant an impact as that displayed by Libby since he moved from Nottinghamshire to New Road at the end of the 2019 season.
He finished as the leading run-scorer in the country for the group stages of the 2020 Bob Willis Trophy with 498 runs at an average of 55.33.
Libby then topped the Rapids averages in the Vitality Blast for good measure with 318 runs at 39.75 – a total only surpassed by Hamish Rutherford.
It led to him scooping a hat-trick of awards at Worcestershire CCC 2020 Virtual Awards Evening – the Players’ Player Of The Year, The Supporters’ Association Player Of The Year and the Dick Lygon Award for contributions on and off the pitch.
An entire season followed in 2021, and Libby again did not disappoint with superb performances in all formats.
He scored 1,075 runs at an average of 56.57 in the County Championship with four centuries and was appointed Worcestershire’s red ball vice-captain.
Libby again made a significant contribution in the Vitality Blast, topping the Worcestershire averages with 315 runs at 31.50.
More honours came at the Awards Night in September, with Libby again voted Players’ Player of the Year and retaining the Dick Lygon Award.
The evening gets underway at 7.30pm, and non Society members can attend for an admission fee of £5.
