MOEEN CREATES HISTORY DURING ‘AMAZING’ IPL EXPERIENCE

Moeen Ali created history when he helped Chennai Super Kings to IPL glory and admitted it was an “amazing” experience.

The Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain became the first English player to play in an IPL winning team.

Moeen struck 37 not out from 20 balls in the 27 run final win over Kolkata Knight Riders in Dubai.

The only other Englishman to appear in a final was Chris Jordan in 2016 when he finished on the losing side.

Moeen said: “It’s amazing. I can’t describe it, really. I never thought I’d win the IPL and to do it with this team is amazing.

“MS Dhoni and Stephen Fleming are so calm and clear with what they want to do. Everyone feels that in this team.

“it’s something you can’t buy. It’s such a grounded and humble team to be part of.”

Moeen ended the competition with 357 runs and a strike rate of 137.30.
He picked up six wickets at 26.83 apiece and, of the players who played regularly, was the Super Kings most economical bowler in conceding 6.35 runs per over.
