Worcestershire CCC were frustrated by the weather as the third day of their LV=Insurance County Championship match with Middlesex at Lord’s was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
It had been hoped that play could finally get underway at 3.30pm with a possible 40 overs play still possible in the day.
But the rain returned and a further inspection by umpires Neil Bainton and Rob White resulted in play being called off for the day at 4.20pm.
The positive sign is that the forecast is better for Wednesday and that the game is well advanced to maintain hopes of a positive result.
Worcestershire will be looking to quickly wrap up the Middlesex second innings with the second new ball on Wednesday.
They will resume on 233-6 with an overall lead of 206 on a wicket which has assisted the seamers during the two days play possible.
Worcestershire will be seeking their second win in three games to bolster their hopes of topping the division.
Josh Baker’s career best 61 not out earned Worcestershire a first innings lead of 27 and then paceman Charlie Morris picked up three wickets.
