Jake Libby is relishing the chance to finally play at Lord’s as Worcestershire look to show their best form in the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Middlesex beginning on Sunday.
The prolific Libby says the Home Of Cricket is the only major ground he has not appeared at during his career, and it is an occasion he cannot wait to experience.
It would also be an ideal venue to complete 1,000 runs for the summer, with Libby needing just 24 more after not getting the rub of the green with his dismissal in the second innings at Canterbury.
Worcestershire’s red ball vice-captain said: “I’ve played at every other ground for either Nottinghamshire or Worcestershire except Lord’s, and to finally have the opportunity to appear there will be brilliant.
“I’ve been involved in T20 finals days as part of the Notts squad, and they are great occasions, but to walk out at Lord’s will be something extra special.
“It is steeped in tradition with the honours board and all the great names who have scored a century or taken five wickets.
“It will be a great experience for me also the young lads like Josh Baker, Jack Haynes and Dillon Pennington.
“Sometimes you have to wait years to play there, and it will be tremendous for them to achieve that so early in their career.”
Libby expects Worcestershire to bounce back positively after the innings defeat against Kent at Canterbury.
He said: “We were disappointed to be beaten in just over two days after not performing to our best and also maybe on another occasion a couple of decisions may have gone our way.
“But we have bounced back before and want to end the summer on a positive note and show the fight and character we know we are capable of.
