COX AND MOHAMMED SPARKLE WITH BAT AS UNDER-18S SECURE FOUR BONUS POINTS

Centurion Oliver Cox and Ismail Mohammed sparkled with the bat for Worcestershire Under-18s on the opening day of the ECB County Competitions Group 2 encounter with Derbyshire Under-18s at Kidderminster.

The duo put on 190 for the second wicket in 45 overs as Worcestershire Under-18s totalled 301-8 declared in 91.1 overs.

Cox came to the wicket after Mohammed and Rehaan Edavalath had laid a solid foundation with an opening partnership of 51 in 14.4 overs.

They lifted the total to 241-1 before Mohammed was dismissed three runs short of his century after striking two sixes and 11 fours in his 192 ball knock.

Cox went onto make 117 from 136 deliveries with six sixes and 14 fours before he was third out at 261.

Six wickets then went down for 25 runs in 23 overs, with Jonny Lawrence returning fine figures of 22.1-11-44-5 before the declaration.

Worcestershire collected four batting bonus points and then struck twice with the ball.

Josh Dickenson and Cameron Jones picked up a wicket apiece as Derbyshire closed on 19-2 from 12 overs.
