Dillon Pennington is delighted to see Worcestershire Rapids team-mate Pat Brown pain free and back to his best in The Hundred for Birmingham Phoenix.
Pennington produced an excellent opening two-wicket burst for the Phoenix against Trent Rockets at Trent Bridge, and then Brown followed it up with three wickets and some fantastic ‘death’ bowling.
It was reminiscent of his performances for the Rapids when winning the Vitality Blast in 2018 and finishing runners-up the following year, before making his England T20I debut in New Zealand that winter.
Brown admitted in front of the cameras after the Phoenix win over the Rockets that he felt pain-free after his back problems for the first time since 2018.
Pennington said: “It was brilliant to see him go so well. It’s been great seeing him around the group, bowling pain-free and bowling as well as he has for the Rapids during our success.
“It’s been brilliant to see him showing how good he is again, in terms of his ‘death’ bowling.
“We’ve got on really well this competition, and it was so nice to see him have this success.
“Pat has got a huge drive for success, and not much is going to step in his way, and he has a brilliant personality for a professional sportsman
.
“He works so hard in training, works hard for that success in the game, and it was really nice to see him go so well.”
