SECOND UNDER-18S CENTURY IN A WEEK FOR OLIVER HALION

Oliver Halion hit his second century inside a week for Worcestershire CCC Under-18s on the opening day of the three-day encounter with Leicestershire CCC Under-18s at Kidderminster.

Halion followed up his 116 not out against Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston by making 100 not out to spearhead a fine recovery by Worcestershire.

He came to the wicket at 147-5 and was primarily responsible for Worcestershire totalling 273-9 declared, scoring 100 of the 126 runs contributed during his time at the crease.

Halion added 35 for the ninth wicket with captain Joe Stanley and 56 for the 10th in partnership with Oliver Davidson, who only contributed two not out but provided sterling support.

Earlier, opener Rehaan Edavalath and Oliver Walker rescued the Under-18s from 11-2, after being put in to bat, with a stand of 78.

Walker was third out for 43, off 72 balls with one six and seven fours, but Edavalath added a further 52 for the fourth wicket with Harry Cooke (24).

Edavalath was eventually sixth out at 156, having struck 12 fours in his 161 ball innings, but then Halion took command.

Reeve Evitts picked up a wicket with what turned out to be the last ball of the day as Leicestershire closed on 41-1 from 12.3 overs.
