Scotland have called up Worcestershire CCC Pathway player Oliver Davidson for a training squad in preparation for the ICC World Cup.
The 17-year-old left-arm spinner is part of a 40 strong party.
Davidson initially linked up with Worcestershire as a 10-11-year-old and rejoined the Pathway last winter.
The elevation of Josh Baker into the first-team squad in recent weeks has presented him with more opportunities.
Last week he picked up four wickets in the second innings of the drawn Under-18s game with Warwickshire at Portland Road, Edgbaston.
Worcestershire Academy Coach, Elliot Wilson, confirmed: “Ollie has been selected into the Scotland training squad in preparation for the ICC World Cup.
“He is in the 40 man training squad, and as a 17-year-old, that is great recognition for him and a sign of the progress he is making.
“Ollie joined us during the winter on the recommendation of one of the Scotland coaches who works down in Gloucester.
“He is a left-arm spinner from Bromsgrove School and plays for Harborne Cricket Club.
“Ollie was with us as a 10-11-year-old, then spent some time with Warwickshire, and then Scotland got involved, and he rejoined us in the winter.
“He has been back with us for 12 months now.
“Ollie has had some nice opportunities, especially with Josh Baker now not being involved as much with the pathway and Academy stuff, having moved onto a rookie contract.
“It has created a nice window of opportunity for him, and he has taken it.”
