WORCESTERSHIRE ACADEMY DUO PARKER AND EVITTS HELP MIDLANDS TO SUPER FOURS TRIUMPH

Worcestershire CCC Academy players Ben Parker and Reeve Evitts picked up two wickets for the Midlands, who launched their Super Fours campaign with a five-wicket win over South-West at Loughborough.

It was a proud day for Worcestershire, with all five of their players chosen for the week-long tournament included in the side in Parker, Evitts, Josh Dickenson, Ismail Mohammed and Rehaan Edavalath.

A sixth Worcestershire Academy member of the squad, in keeper Henry Cullen, has instead remained at New Road as part of the Royal London Cup squad.

Parker, part of the Worcestershire One-Day Cup squad against Kent, was the first to strike with the new ball after the South-West opted to bat.

Evitts then came on as first change and made the second breakthrough.

The pair returned to claim a further scalp each, and Parker finished with 9-0-44-2 and Evitts 10-2-54-2, including the only two maidens of the innings.

Dickenson also picked up a wicket and ended with 6-0-33-1 in a South-West total of 234 all out in 47 overs.

The Midlands reached 235-5 in reply from 47.4 overs, opener Mohammed scoring ten and Edavalath 13.

They will next be in action on Tuesday against the North in another 50 over fixture.
