We’re looking to pack out New Road for the showpiece event of the weekend, our Metro Bank One Day Cup clash against Middlesex, and there’ll be plenty going on to create a special atmosphere.

Kids will be entertained with stilt walkers, face painters and a blue candyfloss stall while the Worcestershire Cricket Foundation will be on hand with a range of fun activities for kids to get involved with.

REMEMBERING JOSH BAKER

About Josh

“On 2 May 2024, our lives changed forever when our son, Josh, passed away suddenly just two weeks before his 21st birthday. He was full of life, chasing his dreams with determination and joy, and his loss has left us heartbroken.

Josh was at the very start of a career that meant so much to him. Cricket had always been part of his world, and in July 2021 he made his first-class debut for Worcestershire in the County Championship.

He went on to be named as a reserve for England’s Under-19 World Cup squad in the West Indies, made his Twenty20 debut for the Worcestershire Rapids in May 2022, and signed a three-year contract with Worcestershire County Cricket Club in March 2023.

Although his time was cut short, Josh’s love of cricket and the impact he made on those around him will never fade. Through the JB33 Foundation, we honour his memory and ensure that the opportunities he embraced are passed on to others.”

About the JB33 Foundation

Josh Baker was just beginning what promised to be a bright cricketing career. Cricket had always been close to his heart, and he embraced life with joy and big dreams. His love for the game, and for the people around him, continues to inspire everything we do.

Following the devastating loss of their son, Lisa and Paul Baker created the JB33 Foundation in his memory. The foundation supports local cricket clubs across the Worcestershire, helping them grow and thrive while also making sure vital safety measures, such as life-saving defibrillators, are in place.

At its heart, the JB33 Foundation is about giving opportunities. From supporting young players and easing the financial pressures on families, to strengthening clubs with the resources they need, our aim is to carry Josh’s spirit forward. Today, his legacy lives on whenever a player steps onto the pitch with the chance to follow their own dreams.
