SECONDS MAKE SWITCH FROM CHAMPIONSHIP TO T20 ACTION

Worcestershire Seconds will switch from Championship to white-ball action for the next two and a half weeks when they compete in the Second Eleven T20 competition.

Seconds Coach Kadeer Ali and the players are geared up for ten matches in the space of 18 days, beginning with today’s (Monday’s) encounter against Somerset at Barnt Green (1pm start).

Riki Wessels will captain the side, and Gareth Roderick, Josh Tongue, Charlie Morris and Adam Finch are also included in the squad for the opening game.

Kadeer said: “It’s going to be a busy period now. Many of the lads in the Seconds probably haven’t played much T20 for a couple of years.

“We’ve got some good games, some good venues and will have a mix of a lot of pros and some Academy lads playing over the next three weeks.

“It will be an excellent opportunity for a lot of the boys, a good opportunity for the lads to put their name in the hat and show what they can do in T20 cricket.

“An exciting time for them. Everyone loves a bit of the short format of the game, and they can go out and brave and positive and express themselves for a few weeks.”
