NEW ROAD TO BECOME CASHLESS STADIUM

Worcestershire CCC’s New Road stadium will operate as an entirely cashless stadium for all cricket fixtures and events from 2021.

Joining a growing number of entirely cashless sports stadiums, New Road will allow members and supporters to have quicker, safer, and more secure transactions.

Eliminating the physical transfer of cash and coins will significantly decrease contact between guests and employees, reducing the potential of spreading the Covid-19 virus.

At the start of the season, capacity will be restricted, and eating and drinking will only be permitted at a person’s ticketed seat. Members and supporters will be able to order food, drink and retail items via their own mobile devices from their seat and have all products delivered directly to them. This will help reduce movement and contact and also allow everyone to watch every minute of the action.

Head of Commercial & Operations David Hoskins said, “It’s our number one priority to ensure Members and supporters can return to New Road as safely as possible in a few weeks.

“This will also ensure that staff can focus on the speed of service and further enhance the matchday experience for all of our supporters.

“Our EPOS partner, Langley Business Systems, has upgraded a lot of our systems around the stadium over the past few weeks to allow for fast transactions both online and at till points.”

Credit, debit cards and contactless mobile payments via Apple & Google Pay will be accepted at New Road food and beverage payment points, the ticket office, and the Club shop.

Any attendees without the ability to use a credit, debit card or mobile payment option will be able to load prepaid cards with cash in Main Reception to use around New Road to pay for goods.
