Alex Milton hit an unbeaten century, and pace duo Josh Tongue and Pat Brown were amongst the wickets as Worcestershire Seconds defeated Exeter University by 114 runs in a 50-over friendly at Kidderminster.
Wicket-keeper batsman Milton ended unbeaten on 119 from 110 balls with one six and 17 fours as Worcestershire amassed 375-5.
Tongue and Brown, back playing after recovering from shoulder and back injuries, shared the new ball and reduced Exeter to 9-3.
A stand of 193 between century-maker Ben Wells and Dominic Goodman held up Worcestershire before Tongue and Brown returned to wrap up proceedings.
Tongue finished with 4-46 from 10 overs and Brown 3-37 in eight overs as Exeter were dismissed for 261 in 46 overs.
Exeter put Worcestershire into bat at Chester Road, and openers Jacques Banton and Josh Dell plundered 76 runs during the initial ten over powerplay.
Their opening stand was worth 85 when Banton – 48 off 47 balls with eight fours – was lbw to Rory Hipwell.
Jack Peirce dismissed Dell in the same manner 12 runs later for 40 from 29 deliveries with nine fours.
Milton and captain Ross Whiteley then joined forces and further increased the scoring rate by adding 149 in just 21.2 overs.
Whiteley made 62 from 72 balls with one six and six fours before he clipped Peirce into the hands of mid-wicket.
Milton completed his hundred from 98 balls with one six and 13 boundaries and shared in two more productive partnerships.
With 32 off 25 balls, Zain Ul Hassan helped him add 74 in 8.4 overs and Ed Bragg, 28 off 16 deliveries, put on 50 in 4.5 overs.
Peirce ended with 3-42 from eight overs, and the other wicket-takers were Dominic Goodman (1-81) and Hipwell (1-43).
Tongue struck with the last ball of his first over when Matt Doran (0) edged through to Dell at second slip.
Brown picked up two scalps in his first over as George Reid (7) went lbw, and Luke Maslen (0) had his stumps shattered.
It became 24-4 when Charley Reed (3) went for a single but failed to beat Josh Dickenson’s throw to Brown at the bowler’s end and was run out.
But then came the resistance from Wells, who completed a 105 ball century, and Goodman.
Academy player Ben Parker broke the stand when Whiteley caught Goodman (69) at long-off.
Brown dismissed Wells for 137, with Bragg holding onto the chance at deep cover, as the last five wickets went down for 18 runs.
