BEN FINISHES WITH MOST DISMISSALS IN BOB WILLIS TROPHY

worcestershire ccc wicket-keeper ben cox has finished with the most dismissals in the country in the bob willis trophy which ended yesterday (sunday) at lord’s.

cox notched up 25 dismissals during his five appearances – three more than kent’s ollie robinson.

his impressive tally of scalps included five during the first innings of the derby meeting with warwickshire at home.

it was the fourth time in his career cox had taken five or more dismissals in an innings in first-class cricket after nottinghamshire at trent bridge (2011), oxford university at the parks (2013) and somerset at New Road (2015).

cox also weighed in with 225 runs at 45.00 – his highest average for a season in which he has played five or more matches.

worcestershire newcomer, jake libby, was also the highest run-scorer in the tournament until overhauled by essex’s sir alastair cook with his century against somerset in the final.

libby proved to be one of the signings of the season in county cricket after his move to worcestershire from nottinghamshire on a three-year contract.

he scored 498 runs in the trophy, and was a model of consistency, with scores of 77 versus gloucestershire, 184 and 44 against glamorgan, 84 versus warwickshire attack and 58 in the final match at home to somerset.

he finished 73 runs ahead of the next highest run-scorer in the group stages in nottinghamshire’s ben slater whose tally of 425 also included an initial spell on loan at leicestershire.
