HAMISH FINISHES AS SECOND HIGHEST SIX HITTER IN VITALITY BLAST

Hamish Rutherford’s big hitting finale to the 2020 Vitality Blast meant he finished as the second highest six hitter in the T20 competition.

The Worcestershire Rapids opener cleared the ropes on 19 occasions in his nine innings.

Only Gloucestershire’s Ian Cockbain with 22 sixes from the same number of knocks achieved the feat on more occasions than Rutherford.

The New Zealander struck five sixes in the penultimate game against Birmingham Bears at Edgbaston.

The left hander followed that with four more in last Sunday’s home encounter with Glamorgan in which he scored a brilliant century.

Rutherford also hit 33 fours – more than anyone else in the six-hitting top 10 – in another indication of the high proportion of his runs which came in boundaries.

His efforts follow on from Moeen Ali’s 30 sixes in seven knocks last summer which enabled him to finish top of the Blast six-hitting charts.
