Worcestershire Under-18s were involved in two hard fought encounters yesterday against Nottinghamshire Under-18s and Malvern College before completing their fixtures for the 2020 campaign.
Xavie Clarke hit a century for an Under-18 side featuring more senior players from the pathway which went down by one wicket at Notts Sports Club.
Worcestershire elected to bat and Clarke came to the wicket at 35-1 in the 13th over and struck 107 off 91 balls with two sixes and 11 fours.
He shared in stands of 65 with Reeve Evitts (42) and 76 with Zain Ul-Hassan (19) before he was fourth out at 214 in the 42nd over.
Worcestershire eventually totalled 231-9 in 45 overs and looked in control after Ed Bragg (2-41 in nine over) picked up two wickets in reducing Nottinghamshire to 44-3.
Freddie Fallows (2-32 in nine overs) then made inroads in the middle order to leave the home side on 112-6 until Sam King (79 not out) and Fateh Singh (44) added 105 in 15 overs for the seventh wicket.
Seven runs were still needed when Jacques Banton (2-26) removed the ninth wicket before Nottinghamshire won a thrilling contest. Ul-Hassan (1-32) and Sam Smith (1-35) were the other wicket-takers.
Worcestershire CCC Academy product, Josh Dickenson, produced a fine all-round display for Malvern College who defeated a younger Worcestershire Under-18 side by three wickets in another 45 over match.
Spinner Dickenson returned 4-33 from nine overs as Worcestershire totalled 167-8 after choosing to bat with Tom Cosh (44 off 73 balls with five fours) top-scoring.
He put on 53 for the fourth wicket with Tom Skerrett (36 not out from 55 balls with four fours).
Malvern College reached 89-1 in reply but then wickets started to tumble in reply with Milan Dogra having fine figures of 4-32 from 7.1 overs.
But Dickenson saw the home side to victory with an unbeaten 39 off 48 balls with 9.5 overs to spare at 168-7.
