Worcestershire skipper Daryl Mitchell is still hopeful of reaching 1,000 runs in the Specsavers County Championship this season with a strong finale to the campaign.
The opening batsman goes into the four-day match with Sussex at Hove on 703 Championship runs for 2016.
Mitchell gave his hopes of getting to four figures a significant boost with two hundreds in the recent home clash with Northamptonshire – the third time he has achieved that feat.
The County's 2016 beneficiary said: The Northants game was a good one for me and the team and it was nice to get some runs.
“I have been a short of runs in red ball cricket this season and I haven’t got as many runs as I would have liked.
“But with two games to go hopefully I can add to my hundreds tally and put some runs on the board.
“There is still a good opportunity for me to score 1,000 runs and I will be looking to do that.”
