
Worcestershire academy prospect Toby Cox has seen his impressive recent form rewarded after today earning a call-up to the Canada U19 side for the Men’s World Cup Americas Qualifier.
The 17-year-old has impressed during his time in the academy pathway, with his form for both the U18’s and the 2nd XI catching the eye of the Canadian National team selectors.
Cox, has continued to develop his batting prowess, after showcasing his skills with a majestic 184 for the Academy at the back end of last season.
Academy Head Coach, Elliot Wilson, shared his delighted for Cox at earning such an exciting opportunity.
“Going out to explore selection for Canada U19s was a fantastic opportunity for Toby, much credit must go to Toby for doing the relevant chasing and emails to Canada Cricket to create this opportunity.
“The experience has significant added value to Toby’s development and is an experience we could not offer as an academy.
“The qualifying competition will be competitive and when qualification is achieved to be involved in an ICC World Cup event will be amazing”.
