Worcestershire CCC Academy player Zen Malik had the misfortune to be run out TWICE when playing for the England Development Programme Invitational X1 against Sri Lanka Under-19s in a drawn two day game at Loughborough.
Malik is part of the England Under-19s squad for the forthcoming two 'Tests' and three 50 over matches with the Sri Lankans.
The EDP X1-Sri Lanka Under-19s clash was part of the warm-up to that series which begins with the first 'Test' at Fenners tomorrow (Tuesday) along with the Under-19s-Unicorns encounter.
Malik batted number three in the first innings and had scored 12 off 41 balls with one six and one four when he was run out after adding 42 in 14 overs for the second wicket with T. Haines (98).
EDP X1 totalled 300 all out in 68.5 overs and the Sri Lankans replied with 304-8 declared in 92 overs with Malik taking one catch.
He was promoted to open the innings when EDP X1 batted for a second time and featured in a stand of 81 with H. Brooks (63).
But after getting to 21 off 40 balls with three boundaries, Malik suffered the same mode of dismissal.
EDP X1 eventually closed the game on 171-3 from 30 overs.
