RAPIDS LOOK TO TURN AROUND FORTUNES WITH VITALITY BLAST DOUBLE HEADER

worcestershire rapids will be looking to turn around their fortunes in the vitality blast with two matches in just over 24 hours against somerset at edgbaston tomorrow (1.05pm) and gloucestershire at bristol on friday (2pm)

the rapids have been able to put together a couple of days profitable practice sessions at New Road after the opening trio of fixtures in the t20 competition.

head coach alex gidman has confidence in the rapids having a good chance of hitting the winning trail in the competition with a slight improvement in a couple of areas of their game.

he said: “it’s been one of those periods of time where it has been very, very busy and it’s balancing rest and practice but we’ve managed to get a good session in today which is really important.

“the guys practiced extremely well and are looking forward to the game. i cannot fault the players efforts. they tried extremely hard in both games against northamptonshire and gloucestershire.

“we just didn’t quite get it right, but i have full faith and confidence in them in their ability to try and turn it around tomorrow and friday. i know with this group, even if results don’t go our way, it’s not through lack of effort.

“t20 is a tough game which can go either way very quickly. i’m sure if we put the effort in and get a couple of simple things done slightly better then we will have a good chance of winning.”

the rapids will select from a 14 strong squad for the match being played at edgbaston which is being shown live on sky sports.
