GLENN AND ENGLAND TEAM-MATES SUFFER WEATHER HEARTBREAK

Sarah Glenn and her England team-mates suffered ICC Women’s T20 World Cup heartbreak today as their semi-final against India in Sydney was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Worcestershire Women’s Rapids player and her colleagues were left frustrated by the elements as torrential rain meant it became inevitable that the game was called off.

With no reserve day available, the outcome of the semi-final was decided by group results – and as a result India have gone through to Sunday’s final.

They won all four of their group matches whereas England lost their opening match to South Africa before triumphing in the next three games to finish runners-up in their group to the Proteas.

India had never beaten England in five T20 World Cup matches heading into the semi-final meeting.

It was a sad end to Glenn’s first World Cup in which she can be proud of her performances.

From her four matches, she ended with six wickets – a tally only surpassed by Sophie Ecclestone and Anya Shrubsole with eight apiece.
