MOEEN HOPING FOR RETURN TO T20I ACTION IN SOUTH AFRICA

Moeen Ali will be hoping to make his first T20I appearance for 16 months when England face South Africa in East London later today in the first of three matches.

The Worcestershire all-rounder has made 25 T20I appearances for his country since 2014 and was part of the side which reached the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup final in India.

But the last of his caps in that format of the game was in October 2018 against Sri Lanka in Colombo.

A massive period of T20 cricket lies ahead for England with back to back ICC T20 World Cups on the horizon in Australia (2020) and India (2021).

Moeen made a return to international cricket last week and showed his worth by bowling 10 overs for 42 runs and seeing England home with 17 not out in the two wicket ODI win over South Africa in Johannesburg.

The 32-year-old can look forward to an elongated spell of T20 cricket as he will be playing in the Pakistan Super League and Indian Premier League in the forthcoming months.

*Worcestershire Women’s Rapids spinner, Sarah Glenn, bowled three overs for 17 runs as England (159-5) defeated as Cricket Australia X1 (130-6) by 29 runs at the Junction Oval, Melbourne.
