COUNTY’S VITALITY BLAST SIGNING TURNER BACK IN AUSTRALIAN SIDE

COUNTY’S VITALITY BLAST SIGNING TURNER BACK IN AUSTRALIAN SIDE

Worcestershire Rapids 2020 Vitality Blast signing Ashton Turner is back in the Australian side and hoping for his first bat in ODI cricket for 10 months later today in the second match of the series versus India in Rajkot.

Turner showed his potential on the world stage when smashing 84 not out off just 43 balls last winter as Australia chased down a record score of 359 against India in Mohali.

He returned to the 50 over side earlier this week – again in India – after playing in the T20I Series with Pakistan and Sri Lanka earlier in the winter.

But Turner, who is available for the Rapids entire Blast campaign, was not required to bat in the opening ODI in Mumbai.

Australia won by 10 wickets with openers David Warner and Aaron Finch both scoring centuries during an unbroken stand of 258.

*Worcestershire 2020 overseas signing Hamish Rutherford and Otago Volts went down by three wickets to Auckland Aces in the preliminary final of the Super Smash in Dunedin today.

Rutherford was dismissed for four as the Volts totalled 174-8 – a total which their opponents reached with one ball to spare.

*Ben Twohig bowled four overs for 18 runs and one wicket – including a maiden – after earlier being dismissed for a first ball duck when opening as Unley CC lost by five wickets to Old Scotch in a Adelaide Cricket Association Division One T20 match.
