HAYNES AND UNDER-19S PREPARING FOR FINAL WARM-UP GAME

Jack Haynes and England Under-19s will be hoping for better luck with the weather in their final ICC Under-19s World Cup warm-up match in South Africa tomorrow.

The Worcestershire batsman picked up two catches as Zimbabwe Under-19s were dismissed for 116 in 31.5 overs in yesterday’s first build-up game to the tournament.

But Haynes and Co were then denied the opportunity for valuable time in the middle.

England openers Ben Charlesworth and Sam Young had time to face only one over in reaching 1-0 before the game was abandoned because of the elements.

George Balderson (3-16) had been England’s most successful bowler at the LC de Villiers Oval, Pretoria.

Haynes held onto chances offered by number three batsman Milton Shumba (5) and number nine Gareth Chirawu (14).

England are now scheduled to take on Afghanistan Under-19s on Tuesday at the Mandela Oval, Hammanskraal.
