BEN IMPRESSES WITH BALL AND IN FIELD FOR SOUTHERN DISTRICTS

Ben Twohig was again amongst the wickets and also made a telling contribution in the field before Ben Cox saw Southern Districts over the finishing line in the South Australia Cricket Association first grade clash with Prospect CC.

Worcestershire spinner Twohig followed up his two wickets in the T20 meeting with East Torrens 24 hours earlier with another brace and ended with the excellent figures of 10-3-23-2.

Twohig came into the attack second change and held onto a return chance offered by Ethan Callan (0) while Cooper McKenzie (5) was stumped by Joshua Barrett.

He also showed a safe pair of hands in holding onto chances in the slips, mid-wicket and deep mid-wicket to account for opener Paul Wasiewicz (15), Harvey Brennan (5) and Jasper Darley (12).

Prospect reached 106-2 at one stage after electing to bat and were bowled out for 142 in 48 overs.

Southern Districts made light work of their task thanks to a stand of 88 for the second wicket between Barrett (59 not out) and Brendan McCormack (51).

County keeper-batsman Cox had time to make 10 not out in an unbroken stand of 35 with Barrett as Southern Districts won by eight wickets with 19.3 overs to spare.

*Josh Dell was dismissed for 10 as Mosman CC (135 all out in 29.2 overs) went down by 98 runs to St. George’s CC (233 in 49.3 overs) in a New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade fixture.
