COUNTY SQUAD RESUME PRE-SEASON TRAINING AFTER FESTIVE BREAK

Worcestershire CCC’s players will continue their preparations for the 2020 campaign after reporting back for training today (Monday).

The squad were given a two-week break for the festive season after being put through their paces during November and December.

There has been an earlier use than previously of Malvern College as the County’s main winter headquarters.

All-rounder Ed Barnard said the new-look to the close season has been proving effective.

The England Lions player said: “The way it has been structured has been really good for the lads.

“We have been in two days a week at Malvern and it has allowed the lads to work on technical things.

“I’ve really enjoyed it and it has been really good for me and my batting.

“Alex (Gidman) and Kadeer (Ali) have been really good and, with the input from all the other coaches, I think the lads have really enjoyed it.”

*Worcestershire 2020 overseas player Hamish Rutherford was dismissed for four as Otago Volts (168-5) went down by 10 wickets to Wellington (169-0) in the latest Super Smash match in New Zealand.
