MOEEN PLAYS IMPORTANT ROLE IN T10 SUCCESS FOR TEAM ABU DHABI

Moeen Ali played an important role with the bat as Team Abu Dhabi overcame Northern Warriors to win their latest T10 League encounter by six wickets in Abu Dhabi.

The Worcestershire and England all-rounder, who is skippering Team Abu Dhabi, struck a rapid 30 as his side reached a 93 target with nine balls to spare.

Moeen came to the wicket at 13-1 in the second over and added 77 with Luke Wright in 6.3 overs.

He struck one six and two fours in his 20 ball knock and only three runs were required for victory when he was dismissed by Chris Green.

Team Abu Dhabi lost two more wickets, including Wright who was run out for 48, before crossing the finishing line.

Their first victory followed on from the tie with Qalandars in the opening game on Friday.

Earlier, Sam Billings (35 not out) and ex Worcestershire T20 player Andre Russell (37 not out) helped Northern Districts reach 92-1 after they had chosen to bat.

Ross Whiteley and Pat Brown were on the losing side for Karnataka Tuskers who went down by five wickets to Bangla Tigers.

Whiteley (two not out) again only had time for a cameo role in the Tuskers total of 114-1 after they had been put into bat with Johnson Charles (57) and skipper Hashim Amla (47 not out) putting on 97.

Bangla Tigers reached their target in 8.5 overs with Tom Moores (28 not out off nine balls) seeing them over the finishing line.

Brown, who picked up two wickets in the win over Delhi Bulls, bowled one over for 25 runs.
