TRIO OF ACADEMY PLAYERS EARN SUPER-FOURS CALL-UP AT NATIONAL PERFORMANCE CENTRE

three worcestershire ccc academy players have earned their first call-up for the ‘super fours’ which will be staged this week at the national performance centre, loughborough.

ed bragg, pete clark and henry cullen have been chosen in the midlands team for what is effectively the under-17s equivalent of the bunburys.

the trio have all been members of the 2018-2019 academy intake at New Road.

after a training day today (monday), they will take part in t20 and 50 over competitions against london-east, the north and south-west.

a fourth academy player in spinner josh dickenson was also selected but has had to withdraw because of a fractured finger.

worcestershire have been well represented at the super fours in recent years with current professionals josh tongue, adam finch, jack haynes and ben twohig amongst those who have participated.

clark is a top order batsman and left arm spinner from shrewsbury school and shrewsbury cricket club.

he has led the under-17 academy side this summer and turned in a series of impressive performances.

bragg has featured in a sizeable slice of second eleven cricket this summer.

he plays for dumbleton cc and is a genuine all-rounder who has enjoyed a successful 2019 campaign.

keeper henry cullen plays for barnt green cricket club and has been part of the academy under-17s.

he has worked with former england and essex keeper james foster – along with ben cox and alex milton – at New Road.

meanwhile, academy players rehan edavaleth and ollie walker have been selected for the ‘best of bunburys’ side on august 26-27.

they will play against west indies under-15s and also for the north v south in two 50 over games at loughborough.

edavaleth and walker were amongst four worcestershire players who participated in the recent bunburys tournament at felsted school along with reeve evitts and harry cooke.
