Worcestershire Seconds ended their competitive programme for 2019 on a winning note when they defeated Nottinghamshire by five runs in the second of two T20 matches today at Grantham.
It was their third North Division win of the summer in the short format of the game.
The Seconds, for whom Jack Potticary kept wicket, were put into bat and totalled 175-7 in 20 overs with opener Josh Dell hitting 63 off 46 balls with six fours.
He put on 58 for the second wicket with captain George Rhodes who made 35 off 22 deliveries with one six and five boundaries.
Tom Fell then cracked 39 off 19 balls with three sixes and two fours and feature in a partnership of 69 with Dell who was eventually fifth out at 154.
Opener Ben Slater made 57 from 39 balls and put on 50 for the third wicket with Jake Libby (45 not out).
Nottinghamshire began the final over bowled by Charlie Morris on 164-3 and lost three wickets in what became an eight ball over.
Morris dismissed Liam Patterson-White (31) and Lyndon James (0), who was caught and bowled, and then Matt Carter was run out as Nottinghamshire closed on 170-6.
Morris finished with 4-0-29-2, Joe Leach 4-0-31-1, Rhodes also 4-0-31-1, Josh Breed 4-0-23-1, Adam Finch 3-0-36-0 and George Marshall 1-0-15-0.
Nottinghamshire had won the first game by 51 runs after being put into bat.
Morris made two early breakthroughs and, despite James making 42 off 23 balls, wickets fell at regular intervals, including two in two balls for Leach.
He ended with 4-0-28-2, Morris 4-0-32-3, Rhodes 4-0-31-2, Marshall 2-0-6-2, Finch 3-0-22-0 and Breed 3-0-35-0.
Fell and Ollie Westbury put on 38 in 4.2 overs for Worcestershire before the former fell for 20.
Westbury was fourth out for 32 off 27 balls and Worcestershire lost their last six wickets fell for 15 runs before being dismissed for 104 in 19.1 overs.
Kashif Ali (3-0-13-4) worked his way through the middle and lower order.
