JACK HAYNES TOP SCORES FOR ENGLAND UNDER-19S AGAINST BANGLADESH

Jack Haynes top-scored for England Under-19s but they are facing an uphill battle to reach the final of the Tri-Series after a 72 run defeat against Bangladesh Under-19s at Billericay.

The Worcestershire batsman came to the wicket at 28-2 and made an accomplished 40 off 43 balls after batting in the number four role.

He struck five boundaries and, after England had been reduced to 51-5, added 44 for the sixth wicket with George Balderson (18).

Haynes was sixth out with the total on 95 and England were eventually bowled out for 152 in 39 overs.

Earlier Bangladesh had totalled 224 in 47.1 overs and were greatly indebted to opener Tanzid Hasan.

He scored a splendid 117 off 113 balls with two sixes and 16 fours.

England now occupy bottom spot in the table and have three matches remaining to try and qualify for the final.

They are next in action tomorrow (Saturday) against India at Chelmsford.

*A Worcestershire Development X1 defeated their Warwickshire counterparts by five wickets in a 50 over match at Alcester and Ragley.

A half century from Dan Meredith helped Worcestershire reach a 175 target and win with 8.4 overs to spare.

Warwickshire were put into bat and bowled out for 174 in 42.2 overs with the wickets shared around by the Worcestershire bowlers.

Charlie Williams (6-1-25-2), Matthew Gurr (7-1-13-2), Meredith (8.2-1-24-2) and Joe Stanley (5-0-27-2) were the wicket-takers and there were also two run-outs.

Opener Meredith made 52 off 77 balls with one six and seven fours.

He was fourth out with the total on 97 and then Cameron Jones (30) and Tom Stephens (29 not out) put on 51 for the fifth wicket to take Worcestershire close to their target.
