KIDDERMINSTER GROUNDSMAN THANKED BY WORCESTERSHIRE CCC FOR STERLING EFFORTS

worcestershire ccc have thanked kidderminster cricket club head groundsman chris longmore for his sterling efforts after the county switched a trio of matches to chester road because of the floods at New Road.

county chairman, fanos hira, presented chris with a bottle of champagne as a thank you for his tireless hard work before wednesday evening’s vitality blast encounter with derbyshire falcons at New Road.

chris produced pitches for the specsavers county championship matches with sussex and derbyshire plus the 50 over game with australia ‘a’ although the latter was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

the sussex wicket was ready to play on just four days after the floods reached New Road after the completion of the game with lancashire.

chris earned praise at the time from worcestershire ccc first team coach, alex gidman, cricket steering group chairman, paul pridgeon, and sussex head coach, jason gillespie, for the high quality of the wicket.

the one prepared for the derbyshire game was of a similarly good standard.

chris has been associated with kidderminster ccc for many years and been voted birmingham league groundsman of the year for the past three seasons.

worcestershire would also like to say thank you to all the support staff at kidderminster cc in helping to ensure the fixtures at chester road were run so smoothly and efficiently.
