Josh Dell top-scored with a half century for Worcestershire Seconds on a rain-shortened opening day of the Championship encounter with Nottinghamshire at Notts Sports Club.
Worcestershire were put into bat when play got underway after lunch and reached 83-1 with Ollie Westbury (22) and Dell putting on 58 for the second wicket.
But then Notts new ball bowler Paul Coughlin picked up four wickets for no runs in the space of 10 balls.
He dismissed Westbury, Alex Milton (0) and Club Captain Joe Leach (0) with the first, third and sixth balls of one over and then Jacques Banton (0) with the fourth delivery of his next over.
Dell and Xavie Clarke (21) tried to rebuild the innings and added 49 for the sixth wicket.
But another collapse followed with four wickets falling for eight runs – two to Jack Blatherwick and two to Liam Patterson-White including Dell who was eighth out at 140.
His 57 came off 114 balls and included seven fours.
Josh Breed (15) and Ed Bragg (17 not out) added 34 for the final wicket before Worcestershire were bowled out for 174 in 52.4 overs.
When Nottinghamshire batted, Leach trapped Chris Gibson (7) lbw in his second over with nine runs on the board.
Josh Tongue, continuing his comeback from a nerve tissue injury in his upper arm, shared the new ball.
The home side closed on 42-1 from 9.3 overs. Leach ended with figures of 5-1-13-1, Tongue 3-0-20-0 and Adam Finch 1.3-0-6-0.
