NINE WICKETS FOR MEREDITH BUT DEVELOPMENT X1 GO UNDER IN DERBY

Dan Meredith had a match haul of nine wickets for a Worcestershire Development X1 which went down by 74 runs in a two-day match with their Warwickshire Under-17s Development X1 at the Edgbaston Foundation Ground.

Meredith had first innings figures of 14-2-61-5 and followed them up with 14-1-66-4 to give him a match analysis of 28-3-127-9.

Warwickshire elected to bat and totalled 201 all out in 56.4 overs with Mitchell Stanley supporting Meredith with a return of 8-3-17-2.

Mustafa Ali (34) and Ed Clews (39 not out) scored useful runs for Worcestershire who declared 60 runs behind at 141-6 from 43 overs.

The visitors then proceeded to bowl out Warwickshire for a second time for 180 in 39 overs.

In addition to Meredith, Ben Sutton also picked up four second innings wickets and had a return of 12-4-43-4 with Stanley (4-1-18-2) the other wicket-taker.

Chasing a 241 target, Worcestershire openers Fergus Roll (44) and Milan Dogra (34) put on 72 before the innings declined to 96-6.

Meredith (27) and Ali (33) added 54 for the seventh wicket but Worcestershire were bowled out for 166 in 50.1 overs.
