Worcestershire Head Bowling Coach Alan Richardson and Yorkshire batsman Kane Williamson, who-top scored with 87, gave their reaction at the end of day one of the Specsavers County Championship match at Scarborough.
Richardson said: “We were never really going to go to the toss even though the pitch looked a little less grassy than when we’ve been here previously. But Moeen was really happy to have a go first up with the ball.
“They were good spells from Dillon, and long ones for somebody who bowls so quickly.
“I thought he ran in really well all day, as all the guys did. It was a real good effort.
“I think we did well to get the 10 wickets. We got four wickets in 16 balls, and I think that proves what the wicket’s like.
“For a new batter, it can be quite difficult. Once you get set, it makes it easier.
“Someone of Kane Williamson’s quality is going to be difficult to dislodge. We had a couple of opportunities, which we didn’t quite take. That may have made the game very different for us.
“It was always going to be an tricky session with the bat. It was important we tried to limit the damage, and the guys did really well and scored some valuable runs.”

Kane Williamson said: “It’s nice to have runs on the board. But, having said that, we need to be disciplined tomorrow and try and put the ball in the right areas for a long period of time.
“It was tough out there, and you never quite felt in. There were a number of deliveries which kept you honest and the wicket offered throughout the day.
“We did see that when you put a partnership together, you can score on it. But there were deliveries which can dismiss batsmen, and you can go bang, bang when you see that.
“There were some handy contributions from our lower order, and it would have been nice to pick up a couple of wickets tonight.
“Dillon (Pennington) looks very talented. I thought their bowlers bowled very well as a collective, and they were all slightly different as well and complemented each other nicely.
“That was a large part of their success. They bowled in partnerships, and it’s important we do the same.”
