Worcestershire Under-17s went down by 80 runs despite another fine knock from Dan Holland plus a half century from Pete Clark and late order resistance from Ed Bragg in the ECB County Championship clash with Somerset Under-17s at Bath.
The visitors were set a 329 target after Somerset, who resumed on 133-4, added another 100 runs for the loss of four wickets in 22 overs.
Worcestershire made their opponents work hard for their victory and the game was deep into the final session when the final wicket fell.
Cameron Harding was a major reason for Somerset’s success with two half centuries and seven wickets in the game.
Bragg, Dan Meredith, Josh Baker and Bilal Hussain all picked up one wicket this morning before Somerset put Worcestershire back into bat.
They lost openers Callum Lea (13) and Hussain (6) cheaply but then Holland and Clark added 92 for the third wicket.
Holland went to 60 from 72 balls with 10 fours before he was lbw to Harding at 115-3.
Clark dug in and added a further 72 for the sixth wicket with Bragg (36) before the latter was trapped lbw by Will Scott-Munden.
Worcestershire were then 222-6 and eight runs later Clark, having made 68 off 164 balls with 10 boundaries, was caught behind off Harding.
The last five wickets went down for 26 runs.
