Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes is looking forward to enjoying a strong and successful relationship with new club chairman Stephen Taylor as he paid tribute to his predecessor, Martyn "Percy" Price.
Rhodes was already well acquainted with former Great Britain hockey goalkeeper Taylor from his playing days when he and his father Don Taylor sponsored a corporate box at New Road via their company Taylors of Martley Logistics.
Stephen had also been a Worcestershire board member for four years before taking up his new role in November after Price ended his maximum eight year term as chairman.
Rhodes said: "The one thing about Steve is that he has played high level sport as a GB hockey goalkeeper which is great so he knows sport and he knows how it works.
"He has been a supporter through his company and his dad's company through Don Taylor for many years so his face has very much been around the ground for a period of 20 years or so, maybe longer.
"He is Worcestershire through and through and I'm looking forward to working with him.
"Percy was great. He came at the right time for us. He had some tough times with the floods but his character helped pull us through those times.
"With Steve Taylor taking over, it won't be dissimilar to Percy. Having met Steve, as long as I keep him up to speed with everything that is happening on the cricketing side, he is happy with that.
"He is still number one in the club, he runs the board meetings, so we've got to make sure he is up to speed.
"Like any relationships or managing people, you put in as much effort managing upwards, as you do managing downwards with good communication."
