Ross Whiteley’s team, Sylhet Sixers, have failed to qualify for the play-off stages in the Bangladesh Premier League despite ending their winless streak.
The Worcestershire all-rounder was part of the side which overcame Chittagong Vikings by 10 wickets in Dhaka.
It halted a run of seven games without a win for the Sixers – their only point in that sequence came from a wash-out – after they had won their opening three matches.
But it has come too late to revive their hopes of finishing in the top four who go through to the knockout stages.
Sylhet are in fifth spot on nine points – three behind Rangpur Riders with just one game remaining.
Whiteley had to be content with a fielding role in the Sixers triumph as the Vikings were dismissed for 67 in just 12 overs.
Skipper Nasir Hossain did the damage with 5-31 as Chittagong were bowled out for the BPL’s lowest total of 2017.
Whiteley then watched on from the side-lines as Sixers openers Andre Fletcher (32 not out) and Mohammad Rizwan (36 not out) knocked off the small target in 11 overs.
