TEA REPORT: FELL AND D’OLIVEIRA IN SUBSTANTIAL FOURTH WICKET STAND AGAINST ESSEX

Tom Fell and Brett D’Oliveira built on the pre-lunch foundations laid by Worcestershire CCC openers Daryl Mitchell and Jake Libby with another substantial stand on day three of the LV=Insurance County Championship match with Essex at New Road.

The fourth wicket pair joined forces shortly before lunch and added an unbroken 87 in 35.1 overs.

Fell went into tea unbeaten on 46 and D’Oliveira was 42 not out.

Rain delayed proceedings after lunch for half an hour but no overs had been lost when Worcestershire resumed on 135-3 from 45 overs.

Fell glanced Australian paceman Peter Siddle for four before he pulled him to the boundary to bring up the 150 – a shot he then repeated with the same outcome.

The County’s number three was determined to take the attack to the Essex bowlers and collected three boundaries in one over from Snater.

The 50 partnership with D’Oliveira was completed off only 87 balls of which Fell’s contribution was 34.

D’Oliveira accelerated and showed his class with a cover drive for four off spinner Simon Harmer who had taken three wickets in the morning session.

Mitchell (67) and Libby (41) had put on 111 before lunch before both falling to Harmer who also dismissed Gareth Roderick for zero.
