WOMEN’S RAPIDS QUARTET CHOSEN AS WILDCARD SELECTIONS FOR THE HUNDRED

Four Worcestershire Women’s Rapids players have been selected for the third edition of The Hundred as Vitality Wildcard selections.

Captain Chloe Hill, England Under-19 duo Ellie Anderson and Charis Pavely and batter Ami Campbell has been snapped up for the competition which gets underway on Tuesday, 1 August.

With their Wildcard selections, the Birmingham Phoenix have chosen all-rounder Pavely who was part of the England Under-19 side which reached the ICC T20 World Cup final last winter.

Fellow all-rounder Anderson, who was also part of that England team, will be playing for Southern Brave.

Hill, who skippered the Women’s Rapids to the ECB T20 County Cup last summer, has been chosen by London Spirit.

Campbell completes the quartet after her call-up for Manchester Originals.

Pavely, Anderson and Campbell all play for Central Sparks while Hill a member of the Southern Vipers team although she is currently on loan to South East Stars.

It will be the first experience of The Hundred for Hill, Anderson and Pavely.

Chloe Hill said: “It is great for Worcestershire to have four players selected through the Wildcards and is also an indication of how well they are also doing at regional level.

“I’m excited myself to be selected for the first time and for the younger players like Ellie and Charis it will be great for their development.

“Playing in front of large crowds, and training with full international players can only be of benefit to them.

“The Hundred has helped to give the women’s game massive experience and it will be brilliant for all of us to be part of it.”

Worcestershire Rapids leg spinner Usama Mir, who helped his side reach this year’s Vitality Blast quarter-finals, has been signed by Manchester Originals.
