THREE WICKETS FOR CLARKE AS ACADEMY TRIUMPH IN ECB T20 CUP FIXTURE

Worcestershire CCC Academy (Under-18s) triumphed by five wickets in their ECB Under-18 County T20 Cup encounter with Gloucestershire Under-18s at Stourport.

The Academy’s opening T20 Cup match against Cricket Wales had been washed out but they made up for lost time in skittling Gloucestershire for 67 in 18.2 overs.

Ben Clarke ripped through the middle order and finished with the excellent figures of 4-1-9-3 after Gloucestershire opted to bat.

Gloucestershire had reached 51-3 but then lost their last seven wickets for 16 runs.

Jack Warner also had an outstanding return of 4-0-11-2 with captain Joe Stanley (3.2-1-18-2), Reeve Evitts (3-0-13-1), Cameron Jones (2-0-11-1) and Ben Clements (2-0-5-1) the other wicket-takers.

Worcestershire lost two wickets for nine runs but a partnership of 45 between Olly Cox (24) and Rehaan Edavalath (14) steered them towards victory which was achieved in 10.4 overs.

The two sides then participated in a T20 friendly and Worcestershire totalled 134-3 after electing to bat.

Evitts (32) and Ollie Walker (48) put on 72 for the third wicket and then Cox (31 not out) and Luke Powell (18 not out) continued the good work.

Gloucestershire were made to battle in reply but won by five wickets with one ball to spare.

Clements (2-23), Warner (1-18) and Clarke (1-26) were the successful bowlers.
