Worcestershire newcomer, Fateh Singh, produced another excellent all-round performance to help Canterbury seize control on day one of their Eastern Cricket Association first grade meeting with East Doncaster,
Singh was second top scorer with an aggressive 45 in Canterbury’s first innings total of 151 in 51.2 overs.
He then picked up three wickets after coming on first change as East Doncaster collapsed to 47-7 off 28 overs by the close with the match to be concluded next Saturday.
Singh, who has signed a three year contract at Visit Worcestershire New Road, batted at number three and his 45 off 48 balls contained two sixes and four fours.
Canterbury did not register as substantial a total as was looking likely as batters four to seven all registered ducks.
But Singh was soon amongst the wickets when he entered the attack for the 12th over and the spinner ended the day with the splendid figures of 9-6-8-3.
He went through the middle order and dismissed Simon Reynolds (0), Joe Wilson (0) and Jayden Oakley (5).
Singh, who is also training with Sheffield Shield side Victoria, had a spell of 3-5 in 15 balls and picked up his wickets in his fourth, fifth and seventh overs.
He had enjoyed five and four wicket hauls in his previous two appearances.
Worcestershire all-rounder Tom Taylor continued his impressive T20 form for Altona North in a Victorian Turf Cricket Association encounter with Yarraville.
Taylor again showed his quality with ball and bat in his side’s six wicket win with 4.4 overs to spare.
He took the new ball but it was during part of the Yarraville innings that he made inroads, dismissing Matthew Doric (6) and Braydon Almond (0) in addition to running out Angus Copeland (4), all of them on the all out total of 110 in 19.5 pvers.
Taylor then smashed a second successive T20 half century batting at number three.
He struck 79 off just 50 balls with three sixes and seven fours too dominate the Altona North.
He added 38 for the second wicket with Hadyn Wilkinson and 40 for the third with Tom Harrison before seeing his side over the finishing line in 15.2 overs.
Last week Taylor returned 4-0-19-2 with the ball and made 53 off 33 balls in a three wicket T20 win over Newport Digman.
He also helped his side enjoy the better of the drawn VTA first grade two day encounter with Footscray United.
Taylor, who took the new ball, finished with 15-7-17-2, removing opener James Deasy (0) and Dulan Waduge (2), and he also ran out Amritpal Dhillon (0) as Footscray were dsmissed for 59 in 43.3 overs.
It left them with a deficit of 107 after Altona’s first day 166 all out, of which taylor scored 21, and they were forced to bat again.
Taylor was again accurate and delivered a spell of 6-4-3-0 but Footscray avoided an overall defeat and closed on 124-6.
Worcestershire pace bowler, Harry Darley, produced a probing new ball spell as his side, Ulverstone, seized control on day one of the Cricket North West first grade encounter with Wynyard Tigers.
Darley got to work with the ball after scoring nine not out in his side’s total of 253-8 after being put into bat.
He removed both openers for ducks, including Brendan Wilcox with his very first delivery, in a spell of 5-3-6-2 as Wynyard ended the day in deep trouble on 14-5 from 13 overs with the game ending next weekend.
