RAPIDS CAPTAIN MOEEN LOOKS TO END T20 WINTER TO REMEMBER ON HIGH NOTE

Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain, Moeen Ali, will be looking to round off a memorable winter of T20 cricket by helping Comilla Victorians to glory in the final of the Bangladesh Premier League on Friday.

The all-rounder has further demonstrated his quality in the short format during the past few months and he and his team-mates will look to topple Fortune Barishal in Mirpur.

It all began in tremendous style for Moeen in October when he was part of the Chennai Super Kings team which won the rescheduled Indian Premier League.

Moeen became the first English player to lift the IPL and he played a key part in the final with 37 not out from 20 balls in the victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. In all he scored 357 runs and picked up six wickets.

He then switched his attention to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup with England and enjoyed a successful tournament.

On several occasions, Moeen was handed the new ball and made a big impact. He finished top of the bowling averages with figures of 14-1-77-7 and had England’s best economy rate.

Moeen also top-scored with 51 not out from 37 balls in the semi-final, but opponents New Zealand came out on top.

After the pre-Christmas T10 League, Moeen was back in T20 action for England in the West Indies, and captained the side in three of the five games.

He produced man of the match performances in two of the games and, in the fourth encounter, struck four successive sixes off Jason Holder in making 63 from 28 balls.

Moeen then flew out to participate in the BPL and has continued in the same vein with 187 runs at a strike rate of 158.47, and nine wickets at 16.17 runs apiece.
