Ed Pollock’s excellent form has helped St. George CC top the New South Wales Premier Cricket first grade table with a 100 per cent record.
The Worcestershire left hander has strung together a series of impressive scores either side of the festive season.
His efforts have played their part in St. George winning their opening 10 games in the 20 team tournament.
They have accumulated 62 points and are 15 ahead of Josh Baker’s club, Northern District CC, who are in second spot.
Pollock had successive scores of 82 not out, 38, 116 and 53 before being dismissed for 19 at the weekend.
Baker has played much of his cricket this winter in the New South Wales second grade competition and his crop of wickets – 16 in six games – has played a big part in Northern District being in pole position.
They have won seven of their 10 games and their tally of 51 points put them three points clear of second placed Bankstown.
Adam Finch (Sturt CC) and Ethan Brookes (Prahran CC) are also part of clubs in Australia enjoying a successful winter.
Finch linked up early in the New Year with a Sturt side who are top of the South Australia Cricket Association Premier Cricket after winning their opening six matches.
They have amassed 130 points and are 50 clear of Adelaide CC.
Brookes has played an important role in Prahran lying in second spot in the Victorian Premier Cricket first grade.
He has made telling contributions with bat and ball to help Prahran win eight of their 11 games and lie just five points behind leaders Carlton CC.
