OPENER REEHAN AMONGST RUNS BUT ON LOSING SIDE IN BIRMINGHAM LEAGUE

Rehaan Edavalath hit a half-century for Barnards Green but was on the losing side in the Birmingham and District Premier League Premier Division encounter with Halesowen.

The Worcestershire opener struck 66 off 112 balls and shared in a second wicket stand of 73 with Daniel Holland.

Edavalath hit two sixes and five fours before he was third out at 131 as Barnards Green totalled 207-7 in 50 overs.

But his efforts were in vain as Halesowen, who were 122-6 at one stage, triumphed by four wickets with 14 balls to spare.

Former Worcestershire batter, Alexei Kervezee, was Halesowen’s hero with an unbeaten 86 off 87 balls with three sixes and nine fours.

He shared in an unbroken stand of 86 with James Rudge (28 not out).

Mitchell Stanley was part of the Shifnal side, which triumphed by one wicket over Tamworth.

The pace bowler took the new ball and bowled eight overs for 26 runs in Tamworth’s total of 187-7. He was dismissed for seven, but Shifnal reached 188-9 in 47.5 overs.

Academy captain, Joe Stanley, delivered a tight spell to help Wolverhampton overcome Kidderminster by 68 runs.

Stanley finished with figures of 8-1-13-1 as Kidderminster were bowled out for 102 in reply to Wolverhampton’s 170 all out.
