Worcestershire opener Jake Libby has climbed into the top six of the PCA Most Valuable Player rankings for batters in the 2023 County Championship after his outstanding form this season.
Libby has amassed a total of 211.34 points in the rankings to lie in sixth spot heading into the final two games of the season against Durham at New Road – beginning on Tuesday September 19 – and Yorkshire at Headingley (September 26).
It includes 187.32 points for batting and is a reflection and recognition of his Championship performances for Worcestershire.
Libby needs just 45 more runs to complete 1,000 for the second time in three seasons and has hit three hundreds and four fifties.
Only leader Josh Bohannon (Lancashire), Alex Lees (Durham), Tom Westley (Essex), Nick Gubbins (Hampshire) and James Rew (Somerset) are ahead of Libby in the batting rankings spanning both divisions.
Libby (18th) is also Worcestershire’s best placed player for all facets of Championship cricket – incorporating batting, bowling and fielding – with Joe Leach next in 27th spot.
The PCA Most Valuable Player rankings were originally developed in 2007 to identify the most effective players in the game.
The PCA partnered analytic specialists CricViz from 2021 to relaunch the MVP with key metrics including comparison to average or expected performance in each format now taken into account.
