Joe Leach will be assisting the Worcestershire squad in a part-time coaching role for the Metro Bank One Day Cup campaign.
Head Coach Alan Richardson confirmed Leach will help with preparations for the eight game 50-over month long tournament.
Leach will combine the role in harness with his main objective of striving to regain fitness for the County Championship finale in August and September.
He has started a ‘back to bowling’ programme after having an injection in his troublesome knee.
Richardson said: “Joe has joined us as a part time coach for the One Day Cup which is really nice for this tournament whilst also getting himself back fit.
“It is helping out in general. It is another set of hands and an opportunity for Joe to cut his teeth a little bit.
“I’m not sure if he wants to be a coach but he is really intrigued by the strategic side and leadership.
“For him it is a nice opportunity to have a look and see what it is like on the other side.
“He would have been around anyway because he is on a back to bowling programme now so it just felt a nice opportunity for him to do some stuff with us.”
