KASHIF AND GIBBON TAKE HONOURS FOR SECONDS IN RED BALL CRICKET

Kashif Ali and Ben Gibbon were the leading run-scorer and top wicket-taker respectively for Worcestershire Seconds in red ball cricket this summer.

The duo both stepped up into the first team after a series of impressive performances for the Seconds.

Middle order batter Kashif only played five games, but amassed 741 runs at an average of 82.33 after becoming the first product of the South Asian Cricket Academy to earn a contract with a first class county.

In one particularly productive run, Kashif had successive scores of 80, 74, 108, 82, 106, 74 and 203 for the Seconds which led to an LV=Insurance County Championship debut versus Derbyshire.

Left arm pace bowler Ben Gibbon also made his mark at second team level before becoming a regular member of the first team attack at the end of the season.

He played in all four LV Insurance County Championship matches in September and a total of seven in his first season as professional and showed a lot of promise.

Gibbon finished with 31 wickets for the Seconds with the highlight being a match return of 34-10-129-12 in the win over Somerset at Stourport in July.

With the bat, Rehaan Edavalath, Taylor Cornall, who skippered the side on several occasions, and Henry Cullen also made their mark

Bowling-wise, spinner Olly Davidson chipped in with 19 wickets, including 6-111 versus Nottinghamshire at Lady Bay Sports Club and 5-62 against Gloucestershire at Rockhampton.
